Shocking Discovery at Leeds Castle Leaves Experts Stumped
During recent groundwork for Leeds Castle’s brand-new lodges, a shocking discovery was made. We have uncovered what appears to be evidence of a mythical creature. Early indications suggest this could be the world’s first ever discovered Basilisk tooth.
The Leeds Castle team has been working closely with specialists to determine the origins of the artefact. Initially, comparisons were made to the teeth of known dinosaur species, such as Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex, and Baryonyx. But key differences, which include an unusual enamel composition, extreme density, and ridged formations unseen in any documented fossils, have left researchers questioning its true nature. Some now believe this could be the closest evidence yet of a legendary creature once thought to exist only in folklore.

Leeds Castle Director, Mark Delin, said: “This discovery is unlike anything we’ve encountered before. Initially, experts believed it belonged to a known species, but its structure challenges that assumption. Even more astonishingly, preliminary DNA analysis has yielded no matches to any currently identified species. This has us extremely excited—could the tooth be evidence of something previously undiscovered?”
We will continue working closely with experts to analyse this intriguing find and explore its possible origins. Updates on the investigation will be shared as more information comes to light.
As you may have suspected…this extraordinary discovery was in fact part of Leeds Castle’s April Fools’ Day celebration! While the tooth may not be evidence of a legendary creature, we’re excited to announce our brand-new Knights’ Retreat Lodges, arriving this summer, where each Lodge will bear the name of a mythical beast. Guests will soon have the chance to immerse themselves in a world of medieval inspired adventure.
