Enhancing Accessibility: New Wheelchairs Now Available at Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is taking significant strides toward improving accessibility for its visitors. Following a comprehensive accessibility audit conducted by AccessibleUK, the Castle has announced the introduction of brand-new wheelchairs specifically designed to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Our 10 new wheelchairs positioned on the Castle Island, recommended by Gillian Scotford and AccessibleUK during our accessibility audit.

This vital upgrade has been made possible thanks to the generous support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and heartfelt thanks are extended to the National Lottery players whose contributions have turned this initiative into a reality. This support enables Leeds Castle to continue its mission of being a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

Debbie Matthews, Head of Fundraising and Audience Development, expressed, “We are committed to ensuring that Leeds Castle is accessible to all, and these new wheelchairs will help us achieve that goal. We appreciate the support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and look forward to welcoming all visitors to enjoy our beautiful estate.”

The commitment to accessibility reflects the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to explore and appreciate this heritage site. Leeds Castle looks forward to celebrating this exciting development and is eager to welcome visitors to experience the enhanced accessibility offerings.

Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage.
